Cookies and browser storage
What this notice covers
UK rules cover cookies and any similar technology that stores information on, or reads information from, a phone, tablet or computer. Literacy Guide mainly uses local storage and IndexedDB rather than traditional cookies, so this notice describes all of them.
| Storage | Purpose | Typical life |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase authentication session in browser storage | Keeps an adult signed in, refreshes the secure session and prevents repeated sign-in. | Until sign-out, expiry or browser/site-data removal. |
| Class and learner session state | Provides the child or teacher service requested, keeps the current route, and safely resumes an interrupted task. | Session to account lifetime, depending on the record. |
| Learning and report cache | Supports classroom continuity and offline/retry behaviour where a connection is interrupted. | Until synchronised, replaced, deleted through the learner workflow, or site data is cleared. |
| Accessibility and interface preferences | Remembers choices such as reduced motion or reduced-choice presentation. | Until changed, profile deletion or site-data removal. |
| Reliability queues and release state | Delivers requested saves once, detects failed sync and avoids corrupt or duplicate records. | Until delivered/reconciled or cleared by the applicable reset/deletion process. |
| Hosting/security technology | Vercel or network providers may use strictly necessary security, routing or abuse-prevention technology to deliver the requested page safely. | Controlled by the provider and security purpose. |
Anonymous try-out
Before the try-out starts, the app replaces its normal browser storage with temporary in-memory storage and disables database/authentication calls. That memory disappears when the page closes. Ordinary hosting request logs still exist as explained in the Privacy Notice.
Your choices
You can clear this site’s cookies and storage in your browser. Doing that may sign you out, remove unsynchronised work and reset accessibility choices. School-managed devices may restrict this setting. Because no optional tracking is active, there is no separate “reject optional cookies” control at present.
If optional analytics, advertising or another consent-requiring technology is proposed later, it must remain off until this inventory is updated and a valid choice mechanism is in place. Contact benjamesbowler@gmail.com if you see storage or a network recipient not described here.
